Hi,
I've been playing with Serato (SL1) since 2005 and 99% of the time it has been perfect.
Lack of lucky or not, in my last two gigs i've had the same problem, that i will try to explain in detail.
Usually i use turntables. In the middle of my set the needle got dirty with some kind of dust, and then the signal got weak (red bar over the gray bar in signal indicator). When this happened, the sound starts to fail as well.
So what i did to avoid the problem and gain time to mix to the other turntable : i press the INTERNAL mode button. I thought that when i pressed it, the sound would go back to normal, as the timecode signal would not be needed anymore. This is what i call 'panic internal mode'.
The problem was : when i went to internal mode, the music started to play in a VERY LOW pitch. And when i tried to go back to absolute mode the sound fails because the dirty needle. And i could not find in the interface where i could go back to normal pitch. So i got stuck and had to stop the dirty needle turntable and start the other deck, without mixing : not good !
Of course i know a dirty needle is not a Scratch Live problem ; in fact after i cleaned the needle, everything worked perfect again.
But what i would like to know is : WHY the hell when i pressed the Internal mode, the music played in SO LOW pitch and not played in the normal pitch it was in the absolute mode ? If this is a normal behaviour, is there a way to configure the internal mode to always play in the correct pitch ?
This 'panic internal mode' thing would be very useful in a critic situation ; if you are having problems with the timecode signal, you could just enter the internal mode , the music keeps playing , floor keeps happy, you gain time to fix things.
Thanks.
